Aurunico actively works with two living communities whose history reaches back to the ancient world.

Arameans

One of the world's oldest Christian peoples, preserving the Aramaic language — the language spoken by Jesus Christ — together with a rich cultural heritage that has survived for thousands of years.

Tsakonians

The descendants of ancient Spartans, living in the mountains of the Peloponnese. They are the only community to have preserved a language directly descended from the ancient Doric dialect.
